A new path for economic resilience

Brief

Nambour is a key urban centre in the Sunshine Coast hinterland that has transitioned away from its origins as a sugar cane milling town and is looking for new economic opportunities. The Nambour Alliance, a local chamber of commerce, received funding from local and federal government and led the charge for an economic transition plan in conjunction with the local Federal Member of Parliament and the Sunshine Coast Council.

Approach

Left Bank Co. in collaboration with JOC Consulting and SGS Economics and Planning  were engaged to work with the community and businesses and identify key sectors showing economic potential that the town could pursue. We worked closely alongside the project’s leaders and their stakeholders to create a bespoke approach to Nambour’s unique challenges.

Impact

The outcomes from our economic analysis and engagement formed the Nambour Economic Transition Plan, a blueprint for redefining Nambour’s economy within the Sunshine Coast growth corridor.
